So, from what I’ve gathered (and honestly, the internet is a *mess* sometimes trying to figure this stuff out), Maison Margiela’s “Replica” line, especially the “From the Garden” one, is all about bottling up memories. Specifically, apparently, memories of hanging out in a garden. Think moss, grass, leaves…you get the picture. Green stuff.
The thing is, I kinda get it. I have this weirdly specific memory of my grandma’s garden after it rained, that earthy, almost *sweet* smell of wet leaves and dirt. You can’t really describe it, y’know? It’s more of a feeling. So, I guess that’s what they’re going for?
I saw something about it being an “olfactive journey,” which, come on, that’s a bit much. But hey, if it smells good and reminds you of something nice, then who am I to judge?
And then there’s the whole “unisex” thing. I mean, perfume is perfume, right? Who cares who’s “supposed” to wear it? If you like it, rock it. End of story.
Honestly, the whole “Replica” concept is kinda cool. Like, you could have a whole collection of smells that take you back to different times and places. But also… is it just me, or is it also kinda *expensive* for what it is? I mean, it’s perfume, not a time machine (though that *would* be kinda awesome).
I also saw something about “Flower Market” being part of the Replica line. So, not ALL green, apparently. But still, the whole idea is the same: capturing a specific scent memory.
