First off, lemme just say, digging through all this stuff about Dior is kinda mind-blowing. You got Christian Dior himself, the OG, with his like, crazy-beautiful designs. And then you got all these other designers coming in after him, each putting their own spin on things. Like, the Lady Dior bag? That’s gotta be one of the most iconic things *ever*. Apparently, it takes, like, a million stitches to make ONE Book Tote. Seriously? My grandma’s knitting club is quaking in their sensible shoes.
And the history… Oh man, the history! From Ferré’s Lady Dior bag (which, by the way, I’m obsessed with, and if anyone’s offering, size medium preferred) to Galliano’s Saddle bag – that bag was EVERYTHING back in the day, wasn’t it? And now Chiuri’s doing her thing with the J’Adior slingbacks. I mean, Dior just keeps reinventing itself, but still keeping that kinda classic, elegant… thing.
But here’s the thing, and this is just my opinion, okay? Sometimes it feels like, maybe… they’re *trying* too hard to be modern? Like, the J’Adior slingbacks are cute, but are they as timeless as a perfectly tailored Dior suit from the 50s? I dunno, man. Maybe I’m just being old-school.
Then there’s Marc Bohan. Gotta give it up for him too – 1960 to 1989? That’s a serious run! He really emphasized elegance. I personally think that’s pretty cool.
Also, I saw something about a Dior exhibition? “Designer of Dreams”? Sounds pretty epic, right? I hope they have all the iconic pieces there. I’d probably spend half the time drooling over everything and the other half trying to figure out how I can afford a vintage Dior number without selling all my possessions (and possibly a kidney).
