First off, I saw something about a Bugatti Bolide. Stunning car, right? But then there’s this article mentioning a “Ferrari LaFerrari: scoperto in Cina il clone del mitico bolide di Maranello.” Which, if my rusty Italian serves me (and it probably *doesn’t*), is about some Chinese clone of the Ferrari LaFerrari. Okay, confusing, but understandable. China’s notorious for that kinda thing, right? Knocking off luxury goods. Reminds me of that Rust Breeder thing, touting “gene-level cloning” of luxury goods, whatever *that* even means. Sounds kinda shady, tbh. Like, are they actually cloning the DNA of the leather or something? Ewwww.
And then my brain went totally sideways, because there’s *also* stuff about Clone Hero, which is a freakin’ *guitar* game. Like, what does a guitar game have to do with Ferrari clones, or Bugatti’s for that matter? My guess is absolutely nothing. It just happened to be in my search results.
But see, this whole clone thing is kinda fascinating, in a slightly disturbing way. I mean, look at Clone Robotics. They’re building incredibly realistic robot hands! For *only* $2,800! Which, okay, is a lot of money for a hand, but compared to the cost of a freakin’ LaFerrari or a Bugatti Bolide…it’s peanuts, really. And it begs the question: are *they* cloning human hands, or just making REALLY good robot hands? Is that even a question I *should* be asking?
And then there’s the AI voice cloning software… That’s just plain creepy. Imagine someone cloning your voice and using it to say… I don’t know…. embarrassing stuff! or worse! I guess there’s probably legit uses, like for podcasts or something. But still, the potential for misuse is pretty scary.
Anyway, back to cars. So, the Chinese LaFerrari clone. I’ve seen pictures of those things before. They look… *almost* right, but something’s always off. Like, the proportions are weird, or the paint is a slightly wrong shade of red. It’s like seeing a wax museum version of the real thing. Sad. But hey, if you can’t afford the real deal, I guess a clone is better than nothing? Maybe? I dunno. I wouldn’t be caught dead in one, personally.
And the Bolide… I’m guessing that it’s just being mentioned with the LaFerrari clone to show how high-end cars are being copied, i think. I wonder what the Bolide’s ‘clone’ would even look like. Probably something that drives with the same reliability as a toaster.
