So, I was browsing Nordstrom’s website – as you do, ya know, just casually scrolling through things I can’t *really* afford – and BAM! Designer shoes on sale! My heart kinda skipped a beat, I ain’t gonna lie. Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Louboutin… the whole shebang. It’s like a siren song for your feet, right? But then reality hits. Do I *really* need another pair of shoes? (The answer, of course, is always yes. Duh.)
But think about it: designer shoes… it’s not *just* about the brand name, is it? It’s about the craftsmanship (hopefully!), the way they make you *feel* when you slip ’em on. Like you can conquer the world, one perfectly-heeled step at a time. Or, you know, just strut confidently to your local coffee shop. Either works.
And then I jumped over to another site, can’t remember which, but they were pushing Balenciaga sneakers (on sale, of course!) and Tory Burch sandals. Sneakers are my jam, let’s be real. Comfy, stylish…perfect for running errands (or, let’s be honest, just Netflix and chilling). But sandals? Hmm… that’s where I get picky. They gotta be *just* right. No flippy-floppy nonsense. Gotta have some support, some style, some *oomph*.
Honestly, the whole designer shoe thing is a bit of a rabbit hole. You start looking, and suddenly you’re comparing the stitching on two almost-identical pairs of pumps, agonizing over whether the slight difference in shade of beige justifies the extra $200. It’s kinda insane.
And don’t even get me started on the “investment piece” argument. Like, “Oh, these Louboutins are an investment! They’ll last forever!” Sure, Jan. They’ll last forever…if you keep them in a glass case and never actually *wear* them. Which defeats the whole purpose, doesn’t it?
But hey, maybe I’m just being cynical. There’s definitely something to be said for owning a really, *really* well-made pair of shoes. Something that elevates your outfit, and your mood, without completely breaking the bank (ideally). The trick, I think, is to find those gems that are *actually* worth the splurge. And to maybe, just maybe, resist the urge to buy every single pair of designer shoes you see on sale. (Okay, maybe not *resist*. Just… budget wisely? Yeah, that’s it.)
