I was just skimming through some random fashion blurbs (you know, procrastinating important stuff), and I kept seeing snippets about Givenchy belts. One was all about some new bag (no clue what it was, I got distracted by the “most wanted” belts part, duh), another was about Claire Waight Keller’s stuff (who, BTW, I totally respect her work, even if 80s cinema isn’t always my jam), and then Bijenkorf had some on sale… It was a mess!
But that made me think: what about the *non*-logo Givenchy belts? The ones that don’t scream “LOOK AT ME, I’M EXPENSIVE!” I mean, sure, the 4G buckle is iconic, everyone recognizes it, and it’s fine if you’re into that. But sometimes a little subtlety goes a loooong way, ya know?
Like, imagine a super sleek, skinny leather belt, maybe in a rich brown or a deep burgundy. Picture that with a pair of high-waisted jeans or cinching in a flowy dress. THAT’S chic. That’s understated elegance. That’s the kinda thing that says, “I have taste, and I don’t need a gigantic logo to prove it.”
I reckon the reason Givenchy is still Givenchy even without the logo is that the quality, right? You can feel the good leather, the stitching is on point, the buckle (even if it’s not the 4G) will be solid and well-made. Like, you can tell it’s not some cheap knockoff from Forever 21 (no shade to Forever 21, sometimes you just need a quick fix, I get it).
Also, a non-logo belt is just more versatile, IMO. You can wear it with pretty much anything. You’re not stuck trying to match your 4G buckle to all your other accessories. You can just throw it on and go. And I, for one, am all about that hassle-free life.
