I mean, eBay’s got a ton, promising “best deals” and “free shipping,” which, let’s be real, is always tempting. Who doesn’t love a good bargain? But then you gotta wade through… everything. And sometimes, “affordable” means kinda beat up. Which, vintage, fine. But *too* beat up? Nah.
Then you hit The RealReal, which screams “luxury consignment” and “up to 90% off!” Okay, NOW we’re talking. But “consignment” also means someone *else* already loved it, and hopefully not loved it *too* hard. I always get a little paranoid about the history of vintage items. Like, what secrets are hidden in those card slots? (Okay, maybe that’s just me being weird.)
And don’t even get me started on the descriptions. One place is all about “vintage style heart decoration” and “handmade in Italy!” which sounds amazing, right? Like, super fancy. But then another is just like, “Vintage Valentino Black Canvas & Brown Leather Bifold Wallet. Great Pre-owned condition. Some scratches/scuffs on the leather and wear to the edges, see photos for…” *Yikes*. “Great” is doing a LOT of heavy lifting there, pal. (Also, “see photos for…” is the universal sign of “we don’t wanna describe how bad it *actually* is.”)
I saw one that was canvas and leather… I dunno. I’m not *completely* sold on canvas for a wallet, even if it’s Valentino. Leather, yes, always. Feels more…legit. Maybe that’s just my personal preference.
